Citizens of most countries require visa to travel to Bangladesh.

Citizens of a few countries can get visa on arrival: USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Russian Federation, China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, UAE, Saudi Arabia (KSA), Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and the countries of Europe may issue visa on arrival after examining and being satisfied by the immigration authority at the Airports and Land Ports.

You will get many licensed currency exchange shop every where in the city. Do not trust stranger who offer good rate of exchange to you. This is illegal and you may become a victim of fraud.
